The freedom of almost limitless expansion possibilities on location, coupled with the direct vicinity of the town centre – this rare and in many respects attractive combination for logistics projects is also an example of successful structural change.

The Garbe Logistics Park Westfalenhütte is being built on the former Thyssen Krupp grounds, at the Westfalenhütte in Dortmund, in a region considered to be the logistic centre of Europe ever since the EU expansion eastward. About 24,000 individuals work in 640 companies in logistics or related sectors in Dortmund alone. Logistics companies such as Rhenus, Dachser or Schenker operate their centres here, as well as the IKEA European Distribution Center.

On the Westfalenhütte grounds extending over some 450,000 square metres, in the course of four construction phases Garbe Logistics AG has erected highly modern logistics real estate for the storage, transhipment and distribution of goods. The complete logistics park with a total warehouse space of 207,000 square metres should be finished by 2014. The investment volume during this period will be about 170 million euros.
